What is Pet Therapy?

The use of alternative or complementary therapies in animals is neither new or uncommon. Animals of all sizes and breeds respond well to therapies that stimulate their own powers to heal. Horses, dogs, cats, reptiles, cattle, and birds all suffer from many of the same ailments as the human animals due to poor diets, stressful confinement, work, environmental toxins, and over-vaccination. Any of the above may combine and suppress a creature's natural ability to overcome illness and disease.

Animals respond well to complementary therapies. Many of the same therapies used on people are easily adapted for animal usage. Therapies used in animals include acupuncture, chiropractic, herbal medicine, homeopathy, massage, nutritional therapy, and energy work.
